Mallee Family Care Supported Playgroups

North Central LLEN Strong Families Strong Children Buloke

This early-years initiative works with families, playgroups, preschools, schools and maternal and child health services. Its focus includes improving access to resources and addressing barriers, with the Early Years Facilitator serving as the program contact.

🌟 Youth activities and practical skills

Birchip Youth Group and Youth Room

Young people can help plan activities in and around Birchip through the youth group. The youth room provides games and Wi-Fi for ages 12–18 and lists weekday opening times of 3.30–5.30 pm, with weekends available by arrangement.

Buloke Amplify

Buloke Amplify gives young people opportunities to develop event-management, logistics and risk-assessment skills. Emerging musicians and artists can also access performance and training opportunities. Enquiries are handled through Simone Christie or a local youth group.

North Central LLEN programs

The free TAC L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program matches eligible people aged 16–20 with a licensed volunteer mentor and sponsored vehicle. Participants need a current learner permit and must lack access to a vehicle, supervising driver, or both. Engage! is a separate option for ages 12–25, connecting young people with volunteering, mentoring, practical activities, community projects, education, training and career pathways.

Mallee Family Care Early Help

Families with children under 18 can seek help with parenting challenges or mild developmental and wellbeing needs. Assistance may cover parenting education, family relationships, children’s development, coping strategies and connections to community services. Referral information is available from the family services team.

Northern District Community Health Carer Support

Unpaid carers of any age who are Australian residents may access in-home or community support, respite, counselling, group activities and respite-related financial assistance. A Buloke Carers Group operates from Charlton; contact the Carer Support Facilitator for details.

Loddon Mallee Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect

Free support is available to Buloke family members, carers, kin and supporters of people experiencing mental health or substance-use challenges. Residents of all ages are eligible, with no Medicare card or referral required. Access options include phone, online, outreach and walk-in support.
